Creating a Safer City

Night life

This consultation has concluded.

Council is committed to helping people feel safer in the City. By international standards, Adelaide is known as a safe City.

Evidence shows that concentrations of drinking venues can lead to a concentration of alcohol related violence and safety issues. We want to create a City where people feel safe to attend exciting events, meet friends in cafes and bars, jog or ride through open spaces and live in the City. It is also part of Council's role to work with emergency services to assist our community to be prepared for large scale emergencies.

Currently we are developing new documents to guide our safety work, including The Community Safety Strategy 2012-2016 and Action Plan (revision) and The Community Emergency Management Plan (new).

  • Read our discussion paper and tell us your safety priorities.
